Trade Me Find: The Jet Kart

While poking around on Trade Me in the specialist car section, I stumbled upon this wee rocket. A twin jet turbine powered go kart!

The Jet Kart is based on an Intrepid Go Kart chassis which appears to be strong enough to handle jet power, but features custom made front guards and a custom made alloy wing on the rear.

Mounted on the wing are two small jet turbines. The turbines have 1.5 hours and 3 hours running time on them and should provide enough power for the kart to go quite well. The turbines are controlled with a hand throttle and can be monitored via a display screen per engine. The awesome thing is the turbines run at 33,000 RPM on idle and go right up to 120,000 RPM!!!

The engines are fuelled by a custom made aluminium fuel tank and run on A1 jet fuel.

The cockpit is pretty much standard go kart fair, with a 3 spoke go kart steering wheel, twin turbine displays and a racing bucket seat.

The Kart comes with a steering wheel cover and a wing cover along with spare throttles, fuel lines, connectors and tyres and all the necessary batteries plus a fire extinguisher in case things go pear shaped.

Overall, the Jet Kart is an awesome little toy that I wish I could have. Twin jets on a go kart is a brilliant idea. The Kart is currently at $5,000 and is for sale in Greymouth.
