NZ Car Culture: Speedmagnet's HardPark

Over the years, the face of car culture in New Zealand has rapidly evolved and diversified among various car clubs and groups across the country. From groups obsessed with everything JDM to clubs devoted to classic European and American cars, there is truly a place for every car nut out there. However, there is a great event held every year that brings all of these cultures together, Speedmagnet's HardPark.

HardPark attracts car fans of all ages and from all walks of life and many different cars turn up to go on show, like this awesome turbocharged Chevrolet Impala drag car. Every single car is different from the rest and each one is a symbol of their owners taste.

HardPark is also a great place to find cool and rare classic vehicles such as this first generation Toyota Soarer (top) and Mitsubishi Galant GTO (centre). The event gives these cars a chance to be exhibited so that they are appreciated by many thousands of people and also get taken for a run instead of languishing under covers in sheds.

Japanese Kei Cars are also a great sight at HardPark with these two little pocket rockets attending this year. On top is a Mazda Autozam AZ-1 that looks like a miniature Ford RS200 with gullwing doors and below that is a Honda City Turbo that features a very prominent aftermarket intercooler. Awesome.

People also bring custom made show cars like this awesome selection of S Chassis' and this Shakotan style Triumph.

Overall, HardPark is a great event that every car fan should go to. The diversity of vehicles that are on show is outstanding and I can't wait until next time it is held. Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more automotive content.
