On Track: Events to get into Motorsport fairly cheaply

For many of us car junkies, getting into motorsport is time and money consuming. However, there are ways in which you can get into motorsport relatively cheaply like these events below.

Autocross

Autocross or gymkhana as it is also known, is possibly the cheapest form of motorsport you could get into. All you need is a cheap car, a clubsport licence and helmet and overalls. These types of events are where most people start off in and are held all over NZ. The best thing about autocrosses is the accessibility as you can turn up in any old bomb and have fun.

Intermarque Sprints

The intermarque sprints are a great way to start competitive racing and are reasonably cheap to get into. Restrictions are a bit more tight with the intermarques but it is still pretty accessible if you want to compete.

Hill Climbs

Hill Climbs are another great form of entry level motorsport and are held all across NZ. Hill Climbs are normally challenging courses up winding hill roads and give you a good confidence boost behind the wheel. Restrictions are similar to that of autocrosses which means that they are also accessible to most beginner drivers.

These are only a few examples of great ways you can start getting into motorsport. There are many motorsport variations out there so there will always be something for everyone. If you have a particular favourite type of motorsport, share it below in the comments section.
