Trade Me Find: 1972 Ford Escort Mexico MK1 Race Car

Welcome to a new series called "Trade Me Finds". In this series, we aim to find and showcase some interesting and classic vehicles that have come up for sale on Trade Me. This week, we have a very rare and very cool 1972 Ford Escort Mexico MK1 Race Car.

This Mexico has had a lot of track time down south in the Canterbury region and is currently for sale at Moorhouse Muscle cars in Christchurch. The car also comes with a log book and is currently ready for motorsport use.

The Mexico even has the appropriate plates fitted which gives an added touch of cool to an already cool car.

The interior appears to be largely complete part from the racing bucket drivers seat but the original drivers seat is also included with the car. The factory Mexico dials look to be in great shape and the dashboard appears to be uncracked.

The Mexico features the famous 1600cc four cylinder "Kent" motor which is modified with velocity stacks and twin 45 Dellorto side draft carburretors. The car also feature uprated brakes, springs, a quick steering rack and a limited slip differential plus numerous other modifications.

The Mexico sits on period Minilite alloys with the original four stud pattern. It is always cool seeing a classic Escort with Minilites as it gives the car a retro look and just screams old school style.

This Mexico has got such an aggressive looking stance to it that it just begs to be driven hard on the racetrack. This car has been track proven over many years and is all ready to be enjoyed by it's next owner. The current asking price for this awesome little Esky is $34,999.
